Standard Seed Feeder Guardian
Details
This heavy gauge coated steel guardian protects the seed feeder within from marauding squirrels, parakeets and even stopping all but the most determined large birds such as starlings.
The wide diameter means even when the birds land on the guardian, long necks and beaks still cannot reach the food within.
Powder coated steel construction ensures long life and the easydisassembly means cleaning is also a quick and simple task.
The unobstructed lid means filling is simple and the guardian seed feeder comes in a choice of sizes with various other starling proof bird feeders including peanut feeders, fat ball and suet cake feeder and live food and suet pellet feeder.
All the guardian bird feeders can be hung or pole mounted. Compatible with our Garden Pole System. If using with the garden pole please remove the clear plastic wing nut from the bottom of the feeder and replace with the screw in garden pole adaptor.
Instruction video to remove or re-attach the lid and hanger.

FAQ's
Q: Are there any tips for dismantling the feeder for cleaning?
A: Undo the plastic wing nut at the base of the feederThis will release the base of the Guardian cage.To remove or replace the lid and hanger, watch our short instructional video to help.To reassemble, simplyhold the base of the Guardian up against the feeder and then screw the plastic wing nut in. This will then reattach the base of the cage to the bottom of the feeder.
Q: Is the large guardian seed feeder suitable for feeding suet pellets as well as seed?
A: Feeding suet pellets alone in the seed feeder will cause them to stick to the side of the tube. There are tubeseed mixes that contain suet pellets. Alternatively, use the Suet and Mealworm Guardian Feeder, which is specifically made for suet pellets and mealworms.
Q: I wish to attach my Guardian feeder to the Garden Pole system. How do I do that?
A: The Guardian Feeders are compatible with the Garden Pole System we sell. The plastic wingnut on the base of the Guardian Feeder needs to be removed first. The adaptor from the garden pole system is then fitted into the thread where the wingnut has been removed. This can then be screwed on to the top of the pole.
Q: The Starlings are continuing to try to feed from my new Guardian Feeder, what can I do?
A: Starlings are rather persistent birds and will continue try to feed from these feeders, with very little success. The juveniles may be able to enter the cage, but soon realise it is not worth the effort or the risk and give up (they also grow too large). The key is patience and time, in most cases the cage makes it too hard for the starlings to feed so they find easier ways to get their food, leaving the smaller birds to happily feed in the safety of the cage.
Q: Can you fit a seed tray to the base of the Guardian Feeder?
A: A seed tray does not fit to the base of the Guardian feeders. There is a wingnut at the base of the feeder this is removed so the feeder can be used with the Garden Pole system and not to attach a seed tray.
Q: Which is the food mix that is most suitable for use with the Guardian Seed Feeder?
A: This feeder is suitable for any of our Tube Feeder Mixes or Sunflower Seeds.

This is exactly what I hoped for. The little birds can feed in peace as the starlings can\'t enter or reach the seed.

Unfortunately, this product (the large bird feeder) is not as described. I bought it specifically to stop pigeons reaching the food inside the cylindrical feeder. However, although the pigeons are too large to get inside the cage, they can still easily reach inside to access the food. I have managed to resolve the problem, by tying a lattice of fishing wire around various sections of the cage - something I could have done with my previous feeder and saved myself £38.95. A suggestion - how about making the cage with smaller openings, or of a larger overall diameter so large birds can\'t reach inside?

Well made and sturdy. Does the job in keeping our dog away from the sultanas we feed the blackbirds as they are toxic to dogs.

Has stopped the starlings from taking over the feeder, smaller birds can now eat the mealworms in comparative peace. The starlings try repeatedly but always fail

Good product and well made - easy to top up from the lid. Also keeps starlings and larger birds out - used well by sparrows and tits - very pleased
Item seems fine but the birds seem suspicious of using it.

The feeder does what it says on the tin and the starlings were unable to get to the seed (we give them some on the ground) but now the seeds last long enough for the sparrows and tits to feed as well. My only negative would be the attachment of the lid to the feeder - the metal struts come out too easily and it\'s sometimes fiddly to reattach.

This works re starlings. They were emptying our tube feeder of mealworms within an hour of refilling and chasin off the smaller birds. Now the feeder had lots of bluetits, greattits, robins and sparrows visiting.

Good strong product. So many bird feeders on the market, mostly very flimsy and a waste of money. It gives me much pleasure to watch my garden birds enjoy this and more people must be encouraged to do just this.
